Syntax-phonology interface

My interests in the syntax-phonology interface started when I was an MA student in University of Toronto. Then I was studying the syntax-phonology mapping of Tone Sandhi in Mandarin Chinese.  My project on Bantu languages brings me back to the syntax-phonology interface, which started with a paper with Nancy Kula on relative clauses in Bemba (Kula and Cheng, 2006).  Now I have a continuing project with Laura Downing on topic and focus in Zulu (Cheng and Downing 2006, 2009, to appear).
